Commissions emphasize my work as an abstract sculptor with over 50 years of experience creating original sculptures, often incorporating reclaimed and recycled metals. Include public art, corporate commissions, private collections, memorials, and site-specific works.

"RECYCLE"

12-foot-tall recycled public sculpture commissioned by the City of Palm Desert in 2006 and completed in 2007.

The artwork was designed to visually support the city's recycling and green energy initiatives.

Key Facts About the Sculpture

  • Design & Materials: The massive sculpture explicitly spells out the word "RECYCLE". It is constructed entirely out of scavenged items, including glass, metal, plastic, wood, paper, and electronic waste.
  • Community Integration: To gather components and inspire the design, Branstetter hosted three public workshops where local residents brainstormed and contributed recycled objects to embed in the final structure.
  • Relocation: For 15 years, the sculpture stood prominently on a dedicated art pad in the median of the high-end shopping district on El Paseo. In 2024, the Palm Desert City Council approved its official relocation to the entrance of the Burrtec Recycling Center in Palm Desert. This move was intended to refresh downtown art pads while placing the piece directly where it could promote its environmental message to facility visitors.
